Questions

How much does it cost to be autónomo in Spain in 2026?

Social security (RETA) ranges from about €206 to €607 a month at the minimum base of each income band, or €80 a month during the first 12 months with the tarifa plana. Income tax (IRPF) comes on top and depends on your profit and region.

Do I charge Spanish VAT to clients abroad?

Usually not for business clients: services to EU businesses use the reverse charge and services to non-EU businesses are generally not subject to Spanish VAT. Consumer clients follow different rules — use our invoice VAT check.
